Deadshirt presents: The Year of Star Wars

You can sense it, can’t you? Something is coming.

On December 18th, 2015, the Star Wars franchise returns to the big screen with Episode VII: The Force Awakens, and we here at Deadshirt simply cannot contain our excitement. But we’re also having a hard time sitting still while we wait nearly a year for the big day, and we suspect the same could be said for many of you out there reading this. So, while we eagerly count down the days til The Force’s alarm clock starts a-buzzin’, we’ll be celebrating the rest of the Star Wars canon with an event we call The Year of Star Wars.

The Year of Star Wars will take place, you guessed it, all year, with new installments every other week beginning next week, culminating with our review of The Force Awakens. Until then, we’ll be supplying you with retrospectives on the films, novels, video games, comics, TV shows, and more that make up the franchise, plus critical and personal essays about the entity as a whole and its effect on our culture, or on us as individuals.

We’ll be back next week with the first installment of The Year of Star Wars. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of what Deadshirt has to offer, including the results of our previous annual essay series: A Long Halloween (2013’s cycle of pieces inspired by Batman supporting characters) and 30 Purple Years, a track-by-track meditation on Prince’s Purple Rain.
