This Thursday we’ll be hosting another Deadshirt Date Night, and this time we’ll be watching Steven Spielberg’s Hook.
Between 1989’s crowd-pleasing Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and 1993’s immortal Jurassic Park, Steven Spielberg directed two films. The first was Always, a small period romance that nobody’s heard of. The other was Hook, which might be Spielberg’s weirdest, most divisive blockbuster. The premise: lawyer Peter (Robin Williams) is actually a grown-up Peter Pan who’s forgotten his past, until Captain Hook (Dustin Hoffman) kidnaps his kids. Julia Roberts plays Tinkerbell, and the late Bob Hoskins portrays cartoonish first mate Smee. Yeah, okay, it’s all cartoonish.
So, join us Thursday, July 17th, at 8:00 PM ET, and find out if your love of Hook (available on Netflix instant) is even a little justified, and chat with us about it on Twitter.
